FOR MANY YEARS NOW Indiana schools have had the same problems. To much federal intervention; too much state intervention; lack of money; and lack of parental interest and participation. Not necessarily in that order.
Instead of trying to “reform” our school system, we need to make them learning places again and to do this the following steps need to be taken………..(1) Mandatory kindergarten throughout the state; (2) Eliminate “No child left behind Act”; (3) Eliminate “Special Needs” children from regular classes; (4) Eliminate state tests; (5) Stop School Vouchers; (6) Drastically reduce the” duties” and “powers” of the State School superintendent; (7) Bring back physical punishment; (8) Develop a curriculum to be used throughout the state; (10) Make funding school budgets the number one priority of the state budget without federal funds ………..to name a few.
